Dr. Christina Newport is from Rarotonga and Mangaia in the Cook Islands. She is the Founder and Principal Researcher for Akairo Consulting a research and policy consultancy company in the Cook Islands. She holds an honorary Research Fellowship in Pacific Studies with the University of Auckland, New Zealand. Her expertise and area of research include Pacific development, climate change, mental health and im/mobility. She has experience in conducting large scale multi-national research projects, completing a three country Climate change and mental health project and a Pacific Climate (Im)mobility project involving seven Pacific countries and 17 communities.
