Dr Risto Hänninen obtained his master’s degree in 1999 and PhD in 2003 from Helsinki University of Technology (current Aalto University), concentrating in quantum physics and superfluid helium-3. During his 2-year post-doc period in Osaka City University and over 10 years period in Low Temperature Laboratory, in Aalto University he was mostly modeling quantum turbulence. Since 2017 he has been Senior Researcher in Finnish Meteorological Institute developing the SILAM chemistry transport model that is used at various scales to model air quality around the globe.
